My bride-to-be phase entwined with an equally long bridezilla phase stretched from Aug 2010 to Aug 2011, a phase during which I exhibited all possible craziness and eccentricities of a typical 21st century opinionated bride. Being the perfectionist that I am, my dictionary lacked “task delegation”. What resulted was a year long journey of emotional highs and lows dotted with moments of despair and others where I was beaming with pride.
The most memorable of such momentous highs came when I saw my wedding gown take shape. Like every bride, I had visions and dreams of my “Altar-ego”, my wedding look as I walk down the aisle towards the altar. After an unsuccessful search in Kerala for a boutique that could create a wedding gown to suit my Altar-ego, I took it upon myself as a challenge….a challenge I successfully completed and the result to which I see even to this day with enquiries on where I sourced my gown from.
While embarking on the risky venture, with an uninitiated friend helping me with the measurements, never once did I realise that designing the wedding gown, finding a seamstress and getting my dream gown created would turn out to be a half year long journey, a journey that at times made me feel like I’d opened Pandora’s box. The end result though was well worth the stress and sleepless nights.
The feeling of satisfaction and overwhelming pride that engulfed me after designing my beautiful bespoke wedding gown is what has driven me to take up what started as a my hunt for my Altar-ego into an exciting journey of helping more brides find their Altar-Ego as they walk down D’Aisle.
